In March of 1994, we found this house in Dévé, and shook hands with Pierre Monsaingeon to buy his old family home, which was being rented out and in need of repair. We asked him to handle its renovation.
From June until October we handled paper work and the renovation of the garage apartment. Our daughter stayed in St. Barth from October of 1994 until April of 1995 working with Pierre, the architect and Patrick Pilzer, the contractor.
These extensive renovations were completed in July of 1995. We think they all did a great job! After we recovered from Luis in September of ‘95, we began renting the villa.
In 2002 we updated the villa, replacing the roofs and adding air-conditioning to the Living room, Dining room, Kitchen and Bar.We also added privacy fencing and additional landscaping. It was important to us to maintain the "island feel" of the house and the integrity of the architecture.
In 2006 we converted the tile terrace between Le Soleil and Le Soleil II to a beautiful wooden deck. We also changed the entrance to Le Soleil II and added a small deck looking out over the ocean. An outdoor shower adjacent to the Traveler's Palm and an outdoor mirror on Le Soleil II completed this renovation.
